Welcome to the Riccall Renewables Proposals Website
Project Update
Riccall Renewables has submitted a planning application for an anaerobic digestion plant on land between Riccall, Barlby and North Duffield.
This facility would partner with local farmers to process purposely grown energy crops and produce a renewable gas called biomethane. This gas would be injected directly into the grid, replacing fossil-derived natural gas.
Riccall Renewables is a wholly owned subsidiary of Future Biogas, ( https://www.futurebiogas.com/ ) a highly experienced developer and operator of biogas plants across the UK, with 12 facilities located across the East and North-East of England.
Following a programme of engagement with the local community and other stakeholders and statutory bodies, a planning application in support of the proposals was submitted to North Yorkshire Council, which is the Local Planning Authority, early in 2025.
The application can now be seen on the council’s Selby area planning website. There is a link below.
There you can find documents including a detailed site location plan as well as planning, transport and air quality statements, among others.
Now that the application is “live” there is an opportunity for you to leave comments with the council as part of its consultation process.
Even though the application has been submitted we are still happy to answer any questions you may have about the proposals.
You can contact us via email on RREnquiries@riccallrenewables.com or by phone on 01757 667 333.
To leave a comment on the council’s planning portal you will need to create an account there if you do not already have one.
Alternatively, you can write to the council’s planning department at: North Yorkshire Council (Selby area), Civic Centre, Doncaster Road, Selby, YO8 9FT.
If writing you should quote the application number, which is ZG2025/0117/FULM.
